A fairly tale about a man who wanted to sell gold
My seven-year old daughter usually has problems falling asleep if I don"t read a fairy tale to her. Yesterday she insisted that a read one to her as well. I was already very tired but I opened one of her books and found a short story there. It was about a wealthy nobleman who had an only son. The son did not respect his father and was often disobedient. One day, he stole some valuables from his father"s study. There was some jewellery and a couple of gold bullion bars. Then he decided to sell gold to a local investor, take the money and travel to another country. He was not going to return to his father. To meet the investor, he had to pack the gold and travel to a town situated far away from his home. It was a long journey. One night, while he was sleeping in the open air, a group of robbers attacked him and stole all he had: his clothes, his food, and the gold jewellery and bars. They beat him up and left him alone. He managed to get to the nearest town and became a beggar there. He had been going to sell gold and become rich, but his evil intentions turned against him. I guess this story is not appropriate for a seven-year-old, but my daughter was not listening anyway. She fell asleep very quickly. I turned off the light and went to bed.
